Welcome to “the art of Film budgeting” Interactive workshop
Are you interested in producing your first scripted project but not sure how to create your own budget? Or have you worked in a different role on set and looking to transition to a Line Producer or Unit Production Manager and need to develop your budgeting skills, well this workshop is for you!
“The Art of Film Budgeting” is an interactive live workshop that will give you the skills and confidence to create a budget that will be the blueprint of your production. Many people think the script is the blueprint, however you can produce the same script for $50K or $100M, it’s the budget that determines the choices you can make from talent to locations to the length of the shooting schedule.
Claudine Marrotte created this workshop to provide tools to tap into your creative mind and enjoy the process of creating a roadmap for you project!
Over the course of the two day workshop you will learn:
The Process of Approaching a Project
Breaking Down the Script
Identifying the People, Places and Things that need to go into your Budget
Reviewing the Tools to create an accurate budget (Paymaster, DOOD’s, Union Contracts and more)
The workshop will be live on Zoom over two consecutive days. The first four hour day will focus on learning the basics and the second four hour day will be creating your own budget so you can leave with a solid template to use for your future projects. The workshop was born out of Claudine Marrotte’s passion to share her successful approach to break downs and budgeting that can be applied to scripted short films, feature films, commercials, industrials and television series. When you sharpen your budget skills it pays!

Workshop Day One - 4 Hours
The First Day will start with Philosophy and Approach. Next part of the day will provide you the many tools needed to create a budget from a Chart of Accounts (the people, places and things you will need to include in your budget) to current Union Contracts, Paymaster Tool, Day Out Of Days and a Schedule. By the end of the first day you will have the skills and confidence to create your own budget (that will be your “homework” assignment) for Day Two.
Workshop Day two - 4 Hours
Day Two will focus on applying all the knowledge you gained on the first day. The day will begin with questions and feedback from your “homework” assignment of building your own budget. From there we will discuss how you came to your choices and how to implement them in an efficient and effective way. The budget is the blueprint of all productions and you will complete the workshop with the skills to create accurate and workable budgets for your own production that are simple and straight forward for the rest of the team that needs to work from it.
